Poriume is run by Poriume IT Services (BN 3611776), a business registered in Nigeria. This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use our website, app and services, why we collect it, how we protect it and the choices you have. We follow the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 and the regulations made under it.

Information we collect
Information you give us. When you open an account we ask for your name, phone number, email address, state and a password. When you set up a transaction PIN we store it in a form that cannot be read back, not the PIN itself. If you contact support, we keep what you tell us so we can help you.
Information created when you use Poriume. Every purchase, wallet funding, transfer and refund is recorded with its amount, date, time and the number or meter it was for. We keep your saved beneficiaries, schedules and referral activity.
Information about your device and connection. When you sign in we note your IP address, browser, device type and approximate location. We use this to warn you about sign ins you do not recognise and to stop fraud.
Identity details for bank accounts. If you choose to get a dedicated account number, your BVN or NIN is sent securely to our licensed banking partner to create it. We do not store your BVN or NIN on our servers.
How we use your information
We use your information to run your account and complete the purchases you ask for, to send you receipts, security alerts and important notices, to keep your wallet and account safe, to answer your questions and resolve disputes, to meet our legal and tax obligations, and to improve Poriume.
We only send marketing messages if you have not opted out, and every such message tells you how to stop them.
Who we share it with
We never sell your personal information. We share only what is needed with the service providers who help us deliver Poriume, such as the networks and billers that complete your purchases, our licensed banking and payment partners, our email and hosting providers, and professional advisers. Each of them may use your information only to provide their service to us.
We may also share information when the law requires it, to protect our customers or our platform from fraud, or with your consent.
If you buy from a vendor's shop that runs on Poriume, that vendor can see the orders you place with them and the details you give their shop.
How we protect it
Your connection to Poriume is encrypted. Passwords and PINs are stored with strong one way hashing. Access to customer information is limited to staff who need it for their work, and every sensitive action in our admin system is logged. We watch for unusual activity and may pause an account to protect it.
No system is perfectly secure, so please keep your password and PIN private. Poriume will never ask for them by phone, SMS or WhatsApp.
How long we keep it
We keep your account information for as long as your account is open. Transaction records are kept for at least six years because tax and financial regulations require it. Security logs are kept for a shorter period unless they relate to an investigation. When we no longer need information, we delete it or make it anonymous.
Your rights
You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, ask us to delete your information, object to how we use it, or ask for a copy in a portable format. You can update most details yourself from your profile. For anything else, email [email protected] and we will reply within 30 days.
If you are not satisfied with our answer, you may complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.
Cookies
We use cookies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences and protect your account. Our Cookie Policy explains them in detail and how to control them.
Children
Poriume is for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children. If you believe a child has created an account, please tell us and we will remove it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we make an important change we will tell you by email or on the website before it takes effect. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
